What is answer engine optimization (AEO)?
It is the practice of making your pages the material an AI answer is built from, then measuring whether it actually happened. There is no ranking position to chase — the outcome is whether an engine cites you when your buyer asks their question. Everything else is a proxy.
What is generative engine optimization (GEO), and is it the same thing?
In practice the two terms describe the same work: earning citations inside generated answers. GEO tends to be used for the generative surfaces themselves, AEO for the discipline of measuring and improving those citations. We use AEO because the measurement is the point.
How do AI answers choose their citations?
Each engine retrieves candidate pages, then cites the ones its answer actually leans on. That makes coverage of the concepts inside the question matter far more than keyword density, and it makes a page the crawlers cannot read a page that can never be a candidate.

What is a stored answer?
One question, asked on one surface, at one moment — kept verbatim with its full citation list. Every rate in the product is computed from stored answers, which is why each claim has a receipt one click away. Stored answers are also the denominator we print alongside any percentage.
How visibility is measured →What does concept coverage mean?
A language model proposes the concepts an answer discusses, and a plain string match verifies each one against the stored answers. A concept is only claimed when at least two engines actually said it. The concepts your pages are missing become the outline of the next draft — not advice, an outline.
Is any number you show estimated?
No. A figure you cannot trace to a stored answer or a crawl does not appear, and a day without measurement renders as a gap rather than an interpolation. When something cannot be measured, we say why in words instead of printing a zero.

What exactly is a measurement credit?
One credit is one question asked on one AI surface — the exact unit our provider bill is made of, so what you buy and what we pay move together. Free includes 40 credits a month, Pro 3,000 pooled across your sites, Ultimate 20,000 pooled.
Do credits roll over?
No. The pool resets each month because the provider bill resets each month too. Pooling across sites is the flexibility we can honestly offer instead.
What happens when I run out?
Automatic measurement pauses and everything deterministic keeps running — the nightly crawl, all 75 rules, tasks, links and Search Console are unlimited on every tier. Nothing is deleted, and you can top up or wait for the reset.

The technical side
What does the crawler actually do?
It runs a nightly deterministic crawl across 75 rules in ten categories, builds internal link maps, and produces a ranked task list. Tasks are verified by re-crawling rather than by a done button, so a fix is only closed when the crawl agrees.
What are automatic fix pull requests?
On GitHub-hosted sites, Seoruna can open a pull request containing the concrete fix for a technical finding, so your team reviews a diff instead of a ticket. You merge it, and the next crawl verifies it. Nothing is pushed to your site without a review.
How does publishing through webhooks work?
A finished draft is sent to your CMS through a webhook you configure, with the payload shaped to your fields. After delivery, one button re-measures the exact question the piece was written for, which closes the loop on screen.

What is an SEO visibility check?
It measures whether a search engine or AI assistant actually shows your site for a question, rather than estimating how well it might. Seoruna asks the question, reads the answer, and records whether your domain was among the sources cited and where in the list it landed. What does a search engine visibility checker do?

How do I check whether ChatGPT or Perplexity cites my site?
Ask them the question your buyers would ask, then read which sources the answer names. Doing it by hand works once; it stops working when you have more than a few questions, because engines rephrase and re-rank constantly and a single answer tells you nothing about the trend. How can I tell if a page is being cited in AI tools?
Look for the page URL in the sources an answer lists, and separately for your brand name in the text — engines often name a company without linking it, and the two are different results. Seoruna records both, along with where your citation fell among the sources and how the answer described you.
Do you check Google AI Overviews or AI Mode?
No. We measure four assistants through their APIs — ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. AI Overviews and AI Mode are surfaces inside Google Search and we do not measure them, so we do not report on them. When we cannot measure something we say so rather than substituting a number that looks like one.
How is this different from a rank tracker?
A rank tracker asks where a page sits in a list of ten blue links. An assistant reads a handful of pages and writes a paragraph, citing a few of them, so the question becomes whether you were among the sources at all. The two disagree regularly: a page can rank on the first page of search and never be quoted once.
